We’re excited to share an update on our collaboration with the CHT - DHIS2 Interoperability Squad! 
We have successfully developed an interoperable workflow that enables seamless data exchange between Community Health Toolkit (CHT) and DHIS2 using OpenFn.
How the Workflow Works:
A user submits a form through CHT – triggering an outbound push message to OpenFn
OpenFn receives & transforms the data – ensuring it aligns with the format that DHIS2 expects for its event model
Check for existing cases in DHIS2 – validating whether the case_id already has an event
Create or update the event in DHIS2 – ensuring accurate, up-to-date reporting
This workflow improves data interoperability by automating real-time reporting from community health systems to DHIS2, reducing manual data entry and improving data quality.
Why this matters:
Strengthens integration between community health workers (CHWs) and national health information systems
Automates reporting, reducing workload and errors
Ensures timely decision-making based on up-to-date data
