Enhancing CHT – DHIS2 Interoperability with OpenFn πŸš€

Hello Community,

We’re excited to share an update on our collaboration with the CHT - DHIS2 Interoperability Squad! :tada:

We have successfully developed an interoperable workflow that enables seamless data exchange between Community Health Toolkit (CHT) and DHIS2 using OpenFn.

:arrows_counterclockwise: How the Workflow Works:

:one: A user submits a form through CHT – triggering an outbound push message to OpenFn
:two: OpenFn receives & transforms the data – ensuring it aligns with the format that DHIS2 expects for its event model
:three: Check for existing cases in DHIS2 – validating whether the case_id already has an event
:four: Create or update the event in DHIS2 – ensuring accurate, up-to-date reporting

This workflow improves data interoperability by automating real-time reporting from community health systems to DHIS2, reducing manual data entry and improving data quality.

:bulb: Why this matters:
:white_check_mark: Strengthens integration between community health workers (CHWs) and national health information systems
:white_check_mark: Automates reporting, reducing workload and errors
:white_check_mark: Ensures timely decision-making based on up-to-date data

This is a big step forward in advancing health data interoperability! Looking ahead, we’re eager to expand and refine this approach.

:speech_balloon: Are you working on CHT-DHIS2 integrations? Have thoughts on improving interoperability? Let’s collaborate!
