Provide a credential config switch for moving between dev environments and production environments

Sandbox/test and production projects

To separate data (inputs, logs), credentials, and test runs safely, many serious enterprise users ask for separate “test” and “production” projects (each linked to different branches on Github). The OpenFn core team often maintains 2 projects for its clients, but this process of maintaining and merging changes across the 2 types of projects requires a lot of manual steps. I think more enterprise customers would pay for “sandbox/test” project spaces if they knew there were features to make deploy…

Test mode for workflows

We need a “test mode” for workflow and related workflow runs. Right now when a project goes live, there is no way in the UI to see which historical Runs were from when the workflows were in “test mode” vs. which are real production Runs that need attention if they failed. (The OpenFn core team solves for this by having separate projects for “test” and “prod” workflows, inputs, and runs… but general users will typically not have this.)
